Tech Talk: New Required Reading

Well it looks like I landed a talk slot at the ESRI Dev Summit...and since this represents a phenomenal opportunity to make myself look foolish in front of some of my peers, I figure I better polish my presentation chops up a bit since I've been three months or so at the keyboard.  At my previous employer I was up in front of the room a lot giving presentations but given the lapse, I'm sticking my nose into some reading material to see where things have gone since Presentation Zen. We've got a couple of new books in the office: Slide:Ology by Nancy Duarte, owner of the blog of the same name is laid out as an interesting mix of prose, case studies, and design index.  I had my nose in this one for the cursory skim and scan last evening and there's lots of good nuggets in there as well as plenty of stuff I've learned and forgotten.  Definitely worth a look as she applies her own advice to the layout and presentation of the book. The Back of the Napkin by Dan Roam, whose site is over here.  In short, he digs deep on problem solving and communications through pictures and informal sketches.  Pretty prosaic with lots of sketches, etc. but a wealth of information  in here as well. I'll been digging into these over the weekend to get my plan laid out for my dev summit talk.  Putting the polish on...

Project Example: ASP.NET MVC + SubSonic Architecture

So I've thrown up a couple of posts over the past couple of months regarding our use of SubSonic to provide the DAL in association with some ASP.NET MVC sites and was waylaid in my original intent to throw up a post summarizing the architecture we're using for the effort. Well I've finally gotten around to it.  Recall that in his fake it till you need it post, Dave provided a window on our architecture that I'll build upon here.
